From practice fields to global trials.
Agility Ascension is an open-source agility training and competition simulation designed to teach timing, communication, and focus through a structured progression system. Players form a handler–dog team and experience the sport from both perspectives, switching between guiding commands as the handler and executing obstacle runs as the dog. The game is designed to scale from simple practice environments for beginners to complex competitive trials where precision and coordination are tested under pressure.
At the core of the experience is a layered training system that begins in practice fields and gradually introduces real-world agility mechanics. Players learn standard obstacles such as jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and contact equipment, earning progression through consistent performance and teamwork. As skills improve, teams unlock advanced systems that introduce stricter timing requirements, more complex course layouts, and higher expectations for accuracy and responsiveness.
A defining feature of Agility Ascension is the Leaf Module, an environmental simulation system that adds dynamic distractions to every level of play. This includes wind-driven leaf movement as a constant baseline effect, along with layered distractions such as animals, objects, crowd activity, and environmental changes. These systems are governed by a unified difficulty scale that increases pressure and forces players to maintain focus and clarity under increasingly complex conditions.
As players advance, the Distance Training Module introduces a major shift in gameplay by requiring handlers to guide their dogs from increasing ranges, eventually without moving at all. This emphasizes trust, communication precision, and command sequencing over physical proximity. At higher levels, success depends on pre-planned command chains and the dog’s ability to independently execute multi-obstacle sequences with minimal correction.
The game also features a structured trial and ranking system modeled after real agility sports, where teams progress through competitive tiers from Novice to Champion. Performance is evaluated across speed, accuracy, synchronization, distraction handling, and distance control. Future multiplayer systems expand this into a global competitive framework, enabling cooperative training, ranked trials, ghost runs, and community-hosted agility leagues built on fully deterministic and fair simulation rules.
