AgoraTV

Independent Voices Worldwide

AgoraTV is an open-source, democratically governed global broadcasting infrastructure designed to transform television into a public media commons. The platform enables independent creators, journalists, educators, communities, and organizations to publish, distribute, and discover programming without dependence on centralized corporate networks.

Inspired by the ancient agora, the public square where citizens gathered to exchange ideas, AgoraTV creates a modern digital broadcast environment where voices from around the world can participate in media creation, governance, and distribution.

Vision

Traditional broadcasting systems rely heavily on centralized ownership, limited access, and proprietary infrastructure. AgoraTV provides an alternative model based on:

  • open-source technology
  • democratic participation
  • transparent governance
  • decentralized infrastructure
  • global accessibility
  • public media ownership

AgoraTV is designed to become a global platform where broadcasting functions as shared public infrastructure.

Core Principles

Public Media Commons

AgoraTV treats media infrastructure as a shared resource designed for public participation.

Open Participation

Creators, communities, educators, and organizations can contribute programming.

Transparency

Funding, governance decisions, scheduling systems, and platform operations remain publicly auditable.

Accessibility

Every broadcast can become accessible through AI-powered captioning, translation, and accessibility tools.

Decentralization

The platform avoids dependency on any single corporation, server provider, or governing entity.

Modular Design

AgoraTV uses a modular architecture that allows components to be independently developed, deployed, upgraded, or replaced.

The system is divided into:

No Single Point of Ownership Rule

AgoraTV is designed to prevent centralized ownership or control.

Requirements:

  • no single company, organization, or individual may control the entire platform
  • governance must remain distributed
  • critical infrastructure must avoid single points of failure
