FuturePathway is an open source specification for deterministic education financing designed to connect the cost of education with realistic career earning potential. The system uses the annually updated average starting salary for a selected career field as the foundation for determining the maximum qualifying loan amount. Financing is limited to three times the applicable average starting salary, creating a transparent and predictable relationship between education costs and expected entry-level earnings.

FuturePathway provides a structured financing model with a 4% fixed interest rate, a six-year repayment term, and no interest growth while the student is in school. A defining requirement is that the qualifying loan must be sufficient to cover the student’s full qualifying tuition. If the three-year starting-salary calculation cannot cover the full tuition, the financing request is declined rather than creating a partial financing arrangement that may leave the student unable to complete the program.

AI is used as an assistance layer rather than as the authority for financing decisions. The AI Career Assistant can help students explore potential career paths, evaluate educational requirements, model possible career trajectories, and identify programs that align with their goals. The School Discovery Module can then locate schools and programs that fit within the student’s deterministic financing qualification, helping students discover viable alternatives when a selected program does not meet the financing requirements.

The specification also includes modules for salary benchmarking, education costs, career pathways, loan terms, data provenance, auditing, governance, and API interoperability. Optional plugins can extend the system with geographic salary data, scholarships, financial aid, workforce information, school verification, advanced career forecasting, student pathway planning, and integrations with educational institutions and financial institutions. Throughout the architecture, the core principle remains consistent: investing in the future by investing in youth, while providing students with transparent rules and practical pathways for financing education.

This specification is released under the AGPL-3.0+ license and is free to use with required attribution. Attribution-free deployments may obtain a Specification Branding License, with fees based on usage, deployment scope, and environment size.
