Homegrown Garment
Precision Meets Place
Overview
Homegrown Garment is an open-source, AI-assisted clothing design and garment modeling platform that brings together intelligent design tools, digital patternmaking, 3D garment simulation, local textile sourcing, cost optimization, and sustainability-first design.
The platform helps designers move from initial concepts and sketches to digital prototypes, production-ready patterns, and informed material selections. AI-assisted workflows support garment development, fit analysis, construction recommendations, and fabric substitution while keeping designers in control of creative and production decisions.
Homegrown Garment prioritizes local and regional textile economies by connecting designers with nearby suppliers, reclaimed materials, deadstock fabrics, recycled textiles, and regenerative resources. Intelligent sourcing evaluates material characteristics, availability, cost, provenance, transportation, and environmental impact to help identify practical alternatives.
Sustainability is integrated throughout the design process. The platform promotes efficient fabric utilization, low-waste patternmaking, durable construction, repairability, circular production, and transparent material information. Its modular, extensible design supports independent designers, small manufacturers, textile suppliers, educational institutions, and community-based production networks.
