Adventure Beneath the Surface

LightQuest is a real-world adventure game that transforms the world around the player into a living battlefield between Light and Shadow. Players explore real-world locations, discover hidden encounters, battle Shadow figures, and descend beneath the surface through designated basements, tunnels, caves, and other subterranean access points. The underground becomes a second layer of the game world, filled with dungeons, hidden chambers, dangerous encounters, powerful enemies, rare artifacts, and valuable discoveries.

Players can progress individually or form cooperative parties of up to six players to explore the world together. Character progression includes levels, abilities, equipment, randomized loot, rare items, legendary equipment, artifacts, crafting materials, and specialized builds. Shadow encounters can range from roaming enemies and regional threats to elite creatures, underground bosses, world events, and large cooperative encounters. As players defeat the Shadow and restore areas to the Light, the state of the game world can change, creating a persistent relationship between exploration, combat, discovery, and regional progression.

LightQuest also introduces persistent digital ownership and provenance for the items players discover. Every game-generated item receives a unique blockchain identity and is recorded in an immutable asset history. Discovery, ownership, upgrades, transfers, marketplace listings, purchases, sales, and retirement can all become verifiable events in an item’s lifecycle. Every player has a blockchain-based player identity with a complete inventory record, allowing assets to be verified across federated servers while comprehensive duplicate detection prevents unauthorized copies, duplicated items, fraudulent ownership, and double spending.

The game extends beyond conventional virtual economies through a federated real-world marketplace where players can trade eligible discoveries for real-world money. A Global Economy Module supports multiple currencies, exchange rates, transaction records, marketplace fees, and cross-border transactions, while the Safe Trading Module protects buyers and sellers through asset locking, payment security, multiple confirmations, ownership verification, fraud detection, dispute handling, and immutable receipts. Federation allows independently operated servers and communities to participate in the larger LightQuest ecosystem, creating a persistent, interoperable adventure where players can explore the real world, descend beneath its surface, battle the Shadow, discover unique assets, and carry their verified progression and inventory across the game network.

This specification is licensed under AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Attribution-free deployment is available through a Specification Branding License, with fees based on use and deployment scope.
