Your Freight. Your Way.
Loadly is an open, modular freight marketplace specification designed to standardize how shipping logistics platforms connect shippers with independent, verified carriers. Instead of prescribing a single application, Loadly defines a flexible system of interoperable modules that can be implemented across web platforms, mobile apps, enterprise logistics systems, or hybrid infrastructure. The goal is to eliminate fragmentation in freight marketplaces by creating a shared standard for identity, bidding, pricing, scheduling, tracking, compliance, and payments.
At its core, Loadly enables a transparent bidding marketplace where shippers can post loads with detailed requirements and carriers can compete through structured bids, reverse auctions, or fixed-price offers. Every load includes rich metadata such as weight, dimensions, equipment requirements, pickup and delivery windows, and special handling instructions. The specification also supports advanced scheduling features like dock appointments, multi-stop routes, recurring shipments, and calendar integration to reflect real-world logistics complexity.
Loadly places strong emphasis on trust, security, and compliance. It defines standardized modules for Real ID and CDL verification, DOT and MC authority validation, insurance checks, fraud detection, and audit-ready record keeping. All sensitive data is designed to be encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access control, immutable audit logs, and modern authentication methods like OAuth 2.1 and passkeys. Reviews and reputation systems are restricted to completed deliveries to ensure integrity and prevent manipulation.
Beyond core logistics, Loadly includes financial and operational tooling such as escrow payments, split payouts, 1099 tax reporting, earnings dashboards, expense tracking, and accounting exports. Warehousing modules support cross-docking, dock scheduling, inventory staging, and third-party warehouse integration. Mapping and routing modules provide truck-safe navigation, live GPS tracking, weather overlays, toll calculations, and geofencing for real-time shipment visibility.
As an open specification under AGPL-3.0+, Loadly is designed to be extensible and community-driven. It includes a full developer platform with standardized APIs, event-driven architecture, plugin support, and interoperability rules that allow different implementations to communicate seamlessly. This makes Loadly not just a single application, but a foundational protocol for building the next generation of transparent, decentralized, and interoperable freight logistics systems.
