MailKeeper is a modular, open source AI assistant designed to help people organize, manage, and protect their email and digital communications. Built around the principle that users should remain in control of their data and decisions, MailKeeper combines intelligent email organization, search, classification, security analysis, contact management, and communication tools in a single system. Its user-friendly interface allows people to provide directives and instructions using natural language, while configurable automation levels determine when MailKeeper can act, recommend an action, or request human approval.

MailKeeper provides comprehensive email organization and intelligence features, including keyword and natural-language search, automatic tagging by sender or company, promotional email classification, chronological sender and company filing, retention policies, subscription management, and receipt and document intelligence. It can identify receipts, invoices, contracts, statements, orders, warranties, and other important documents while extracting useful information for searching and organization. Users can also import and export emails and contacts, including cellphone contact lists, while maintaining portable access to their own information.

Security is a central component of MailKeeper. The EmailXpose security system is integrated as a core module to analyze incoming and outgoing communications for phishing, scams, malware, impersonation, suspicious links, malicious attachments, social engineering, deceptive branding, and other threats. MailKeeper uses a zero-trust approach to untrusted content, including attachment quarantine, sandboxed analysis, link inspection, and protection against automatic execution of potentially dangerous content. Outgoing email can also be analyzed for suspicious recipients, sensitive information, incorrect attachments, dangerous links, and accidental disclosure before the user approves transmission.

MailKeeper extends beyond traditional email management with voice-to-text email composition, voice and video email, email-to-text messaging for compatible mobile devices, contact intelligence, follow-up management, subscription intelligence, and scam and fraud reporting assistance. Users can speak their emails, communicate through multiple supported channels, create and manage directives, and receive explainable AI recommendations while retaining authority over consequential actions. MailKeeper is designed to be modular and extensible, allowing additional email providers, AI models, security engines, communication services, document processors, and other integrations to be added without locking the system to a single vendor or technology.

This specification is released under AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Attribution-free deployment is available through a Specification Branding License, with fees based on deployment scope and network size.
