The AI Trade Network
ModelTrade is a federated, open source network for discovering, publishing, sharing, licensing, buying, and selling AI models, datasets, applications, and related machine learning resources. Rather than concentrating the entire ecosystem on a single centralized platform, ModelTrade allows independent organizations, communities, businesses, researchers, and individuals to operate their own nodes while participating in a larger interconnected network. Users can discover resources across participating nodes, while node operators retain control over their infrastructure, policies, moderation, and communities.
ModelTrade gives every creator a complete profile and personal storefront where they can publish projects, models, datasets, applications, and other AI resources. Creators can establish their own pricing, licensing, and distribution terms, offering resources for free, selling them at a fixed price, providing subscriptions, creating bundles, or using other supported commerce models. Detailed project pages provide version information, documentation, metadata, licensing, provenance, dependencies, evaluations, downloads, and other information needed for users to understand an AI resource before using or purchasing it.
Discovery is a central part of the ModelTrade experience. Users can search by keyword, project name, creator, organization, model, dataset, category, task, language, framework, license, price, rating, popularity, and other attributes. Federated search allows participating nodes to make their resources discoverable beyond their local communities, creating a network-wide marketplace while preserving the independence of individual operators. Users can follow creators and projects, create collections, bookmark resources, and receive notifications when projects they follow are updated.
ModelTrade also makes reviews, ratings, and reputation first-class features. Users can rate and review models, datasets, applications, and creators, with support for verified purchases, version-specific reviews, review histories, seller responses, and review moderation. Reputation systems can incorporate transparent signals such as verified transactions, ratings, reviews, project history, and community participation. This creates a trust layer around AI resources and gives buyers more information than simple download counts or creator claims.
The platform is designed as a modular system so that communities can deploy only the functionality they need. Core modules can provide identity, profiles, projects, models, datasets, search, federation, versioning, licensing, reviews, ratings, provenance, and moderation, while optional modules can add storefronts, payments, subscriptions, analytics, demonstrations, inference services, compute marketplaces, verification services, and other capabilities. Payment providers, storage systems, identity providers, search engines, and other infrastructure can also be implemented as replaceable modules rather than being permanently tied to a single vendor.
ModelTrade is designed to create an AI trade network rather than simply another AI repository. Models and datasets can move through a transparent ecosystem of creators, buyers, developers, researchers, organizations, and independent node operators, with licensing, provenance, reputation, commerce, and federation built into the architecture.
