Paystead is a locally hosted, modular financial management platform designed to give users a unified interface for managing their authorized financial accounts, payments, bills, statements, and checks. Rather than requiring users to navigate multiple banking websites and financial applications, Paystead provides a single user-controlled environment that can connect to multiple banks, credit unions, billers, and other supported financial services.
Paystead is designed to provide many of the functions users commonly access through online banking, including viewing account balances and transactions, managing bills, scheduling and making payments, transferring funds where supported, downloading financial statements, and creating checks. Its multi-institution architecture allows users to move between supported financial institutions from the same interface while maintaining a consistent experience across accounts.
A core feature of Paystead is its financial document intelligence system. Users can import PDF bank statements and other supported formats, including structured financial files, and have the information extracted, normalized, and presented in a readable interface. Paystead can use AI to help identify transactions, organize financial information, explain unfamiliar entries, and assist with reconciliation while preserving the original source information and distinguishing extracted data from AI-generated interpretations.
Paystead also provides an AI financial agent capable of assisting with authorized banking and financial tasks. The agent can navigate supported financial connections on the user’s behalf, retrieve information, prepare transactions, interact with supported bill-payment services, and carry out approved commands. Financial actions can be subject to configurable permission and approval controls so that the user remains the final authority over actions that move money or alter financial accounts.
The platform includes a check creation and management system designed to generate properly formatted checks for authorized checking accounts using the appropriate account and payer information. Users can create, review, print, track, and maintain check records while keeping check activity associated with the appropriate financial account and transaction history.
Paystead is designed around local-first data ownership, modular integrations, security, and auditability. Financial information can be maintained within the user’s own hosted environment, while connectors provide institution-specific access to banks, credit unions, billers, payment services, and financial data sources. An audit system can record significant AI actions, user approvals, payment requests, connector activity, and resulting confirmations, creating a transparent history of financial operations.
The platform is intended to be extensible rather than tied to a single financial institution or payment provider. New bank, biller, statement, payment, and financial-service connectors can be added as independent modules without requiring changes to the core system. This architecture allows Paystead to serve as a common financial interface while preserving the ability to use different institutions and services.
