PublicEnforcer

Enforce Accountability, Transparently.

PublicEnforcer is an open-source transparency platform designed to make publicly available federal enforcement data easier to access, understand, and verify. The platform collects and organizes information from public records, transforming fragmented investigations, court proceedings, financial penalties, and case outcomes into searchable timelines and structured datasets. By linking every record back to its original source, PublicEnforcer helps ensure that users can independently verify information and follow the complete lifecycle of a case.

One of PublicEnforcer’s core capabilities is case lifecycle tracking. Users can follow enforcement actions from initial investigation announcements and arrests through indictments, court proceedings, sentencing, appeals, dismissals, releases, and final resolutions. Automated timeline generation provides a clear view of how a case develops over time, while relationship mapping helps connect individuals, organizations, subsidiaries, and related cases across multiple jurisdictions and years of public records.

PublicEnforcer also places a strong emphasis on financial accountability. The platform tracks restitution orders, civil penalties, criminal fines, asset forfeitures, settlements, seizures, and other financial consequences associated with enforcement actions. Solvency monitoring and organizational outcome tracking help users understand whether companies remain operational after enforcement actions, enter bankruptcy, restructure, dissolve, or continue operating under compliance agreements. This provides a broader view of enforcement effectiveness beyond simple case outcomes.

Advanced search, analytics, and visualization tools allow researchers, journalists, watchdog organizations, and citizens to explore trends across agencies, jurisdictions, industries, and time periods. Geographic mapping, enforcement dashboards, statistical reporting, and relationship graphs help reveal patterns that may be difficult to identify through individual records alone. Public APIs, export capabilities, and self-hosting support make the platform useful for both independent investigations and large-scale research projects.

Built entirely with open-source technologies and released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0+), PublicEnforcer is designed to remain transparent, auditable, and community-driven. Every component of the platform—from data collection and document processing to analytics and visualization—supports the project’s mission of making public enforcement data more accessible while promoting accountability through verifiable information and open development.
