ScenarioGrid

Trace the logic.

ScenarioGrid is an open source specification for structured AI reasoning based on IF/THEN scenarios. It provides a framework for examining complex questions by identifying known conditions, reviewing available evidence, evaluating possible conditions, and determining what logically follows from each scenario. Rather than treating AI output as an unexplained conclusion, ScenarioGrid makes the reasoning path visible, allowing users to trace how information, conditions, assumptions, and evidence lead toward a logical next step. Its guiding principle is simple: Trace the logic.

ScenarioGrid is designed to examine information comprehensively before reaching a conclusion. The system can review archived information surrounding a topic, conduct deep searches for additional material, and evaluate relevant sources point by point. It analyzes the contributions of different people, organizations, documents, or systems while preserving source attribution and provenance. Conflicting information, missing evidence, uncertainty, assumptions, and unresolved questions are explicitly identified rather than silently incorporated into the reasoning process. This creates an evidence-driven environment in which every significant conclusion can be traced back to the information supporting it.

The specification uses a modular architecture so that individual reasoning capabilities can evolve independently. Core modules include scenario definition, archive intelligence, deep search, evidence extraction, point-by-point review, contributor analysis, IF/THEN logic, conflict and contradiction analysis, provenance, confidence assessment, reasoning chains, next-step determination, human review, decision records, and a mandatory Do No Harm module. The Do No Harm module evaluates foreseeable consequences and prevents the system from treating a logically possible outcome as automatically appropriate for action. Additional capabilities can be implemented through optional modules for areas such as knowledge graphs, academic research, legal research, statistical analysis, timeline analysis, source verification, simulation, forecasting, adversarial review, and multi-agent analysis.

ScenarioGrid is intended to produce logical next steps rather than opaque commands or unsupported decisions. A next step may be to act, gather additional evidence, investigate an unresolved question, seek human review, choose a safer alternative, or deliberately take no action. Each reasoning path can preserve the conditions considered, evidence reviewed, sources consulted, contributors analyzed, contradictions identified, confidence level, assumptions, timestamps, and resulting conclusion. By making conditional reasoning auditable and consequence-aware, ScenarioGrid provides a reusable foundation for AI systems that need to reason through complex situations while remaining transparent, evidence-driven, modular, and subject to human oversight.

This specification is released under the AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Attribution-free deployment is available through a Specification Branding License, with fees based on use and deployment scope.
