The platform allows users to anonymously upload dental receipts, screenshots of advertised specials, and product pricing information so services can be compared against what was promised and what was actually charged. By organizing this information into searchable dentist and office profiles, SmartSmile gives patients a clearer picture of how practices operate before they commit to treatment.

One of SmartSmile’s strongest features is its pricing intelligence system. Patients can compare procedure costs across dental offices, review historical price trends, and identify offices that consistently offer fair pricing. The platform also helps uncover hidden upsells, suspicious billing patterns, or misleading promotions by comparing advertisements to real patient receipts. For products sold in-office—such as whitening kits, retainers, or dental hygiene products—SmartSmile can compare office pricing against retail market prices to help users avoid unnecessary markups.

SmartSmile also includes advanced artificial intelligence tools designed to improve transparency and decision-making. OCR technology can extract information from receipts and ad screenshots, while natural language processing can detect vague or misleading marketing language. A diagnostic imaging module can analyze dental scans such as X-rays or intraoral photos to identify common conditions and compare findings with recommended treatments, helping users better understand care recommendations.

To make dental care more affordable, SmartSmile features a Patient Shopping Navigator that helps users locate lower-cost practices for specific procedures in their area. Recommendations can factor in pricing, trust scores, past complaints, specials, and service history. Users can also receive alerts when better pricing becomes available or when offices show patterns of sudden price increases.

Security and privacy are central to the platform.
