Sovereign Sheets is an open-source, privacy-first spreadsheet and data platform designed to go far beyond traditional spreadsheets. It combines a powerful spreadsheet engine with database capabilities, automation, visualization, collaboration, integrations, and built-in natural-language AI. The platform is designed around a modular architecture so users can work with everything from personal budgets and business analytics to research datasets, inventory, project management, financial modeling, and complex operational workflows within one environment.

At the center of Sovereign Sheets is an advanced spreadsheet and database engine supporting formulas, dynamic arrays, custom functions, named ranges, formula auditing, dependency tracing, structured tables, relational data, multiple views, filtering, sorting, grouping, rollups, and data validation. The same information can be presented as a traditional spreadsheet, database table, Kanban board, calendar, gallery, dashboard, or other specialized view. Users can import and export common formats such as CSV, XLSX, JSON, and SQL data while connecting to APIs, databases, financial feeds, CRM systems, sensors, and other external sources.

Natural-language AI is built directly into the platform, allowing users to interact with their data without having to know complex formulas or programming. Sovereign Sheets can translate requests into formulas, clean and organize datasets, identify trends and anomalies, create charts and dashboards, explain formulas, generate reports, build workflows, and assist with forecasting and analysis. Its modular agent architecture extends this capability by providing specialized AI agents for applications such as finance, accounting, sales, marketing, project management, human resources, inventory, procurement, real estate, research, education, manufacturing, analytics, reporting, automation, visualization, decision-making, simulation, and geospatial analysis. Agents can work independently or coordinate through an orchestration layer to complete larger tasks.

Security and user control are foundational to Sovereign Sheets. The platform is designed around encryption, end-to-end encrypted sharing, encrypted local storage and synchronization, optional zero-knowledge architecture, granular permissions, audit logs, self-hosting, and privacy-focused AI deployment options including local and self-hosted models. The modular design also provides an extension system for custom formulas, visualizations, integrations, AI agents, workflows, and other plugins. The goal is to create an open-source data workspace where users can analyze, organize, automate, visualize, and act on their information without surrendering control of their data to a centralized platform.

This specification is released under AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Attribution-free deployment is available through a Specification Branding License, with fees based on deployment scope and network size.
