Data and Auditability

The Data and Auditability Module Specification is an AGPL-3.0+ licensed transparency framework designed to provide verifiable accountability for systems that collect, analyze, publish, or distribute information. The specification establishes requirements for source attribution, claim verification, timestamped updates, complete change history records, contributor review trails, and publicly documented methodologies. It enables organizations, researchers, civic platforms, and open-source communities to build systems where users can understand the origin, evolution, and reliability of published information.

This specification creates an open, self-hostable, and API-ready foundation for trustworthy data infrastructure. By requiring transparent audit logs, reproducible processes, open-source practices, and accessible documentation, implementations can support independent verification and community oversight. The module is designed to ensure that important information remains traceable, reviewable, and accountable throughout its entire lifecycle while enabling integration into a wide range of transparency, governance, research, and intelligence platforms.

This specification is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0+) and may be used freely with required attribution. Attribution-free deployments require a Specification Branding License, with fees based on usage, scope, and deployment size.
