A New Standard for Domain Trading

Domari is an open-source, privacy-focused domain marketplace designed to give domain owners greater control over how they list, promote, negotiate, and sell their domain names. Built around an open and extensible architecture, Domari provides a searchable marketplace where individuals, businesses, and domain investors can connect with potential buyers. The platform supports fixed-price listings, auctions, private offers, negotiated sales, portfolio management, customizable listing visibility, and multiple pricing currencies, creating a flexible environment for domain discovery and exchange.

Privacy and security are fundamental to Domari’s design. The platform incorporates end-to-end encrypted messaging to protect confidential buyer-seller communications, privacy-enabled listings, pseudonymous profiles, and user-controlled disclosure of personal information. Domain ownership verification through DNS records, nameserver challenges, and supported registrar integrations helps reduce fraudulent listings and establish verifiable control of listed domains. Secure authentication, passkey support, access controls, encrypted data storage, and configurable data retention further strengthen user protection while keeping private information separate from publicly searchable listing data.

Domari includes comprehensive marketplace management and transaction capabilities, including offer and counteroffer workflows, auction management, notifications, reputation features, and transaction status tracking. Optional integrations with payment providers, escrow services, registrars, and domain transfer systems can support secure settlement and domain transfers. Public APIs, webhooks, structured listing formats, and an extensible plugin architecture enable developers to build integrations, independent marketplace interfaces, and additional functionality. Optional federation capabilities can allow independently operated Domari instances to exchange listing information while maintaining their own policies and trust relationships.

This specification is released under the AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Organizations seeking attribution-free deployment may obtain a Specification Branding License, with fees based on use and deployment scope.
