The Open Market for Internet Names
Domora is an open-source domain registrar and marketplace designed to make domain registration, ownership, management, and trading more transparent, accessible, and secure. Built around the principles of user control, privacy, and open infrastructure, Domora aims to provide an alternative to traditional domain registrars by eliminating deceptive sales practices, hidden fees, and unnecessary complexity. Its unified platform will enable individuals, businesses, developers, and organizations to discover, register, manage, and transfer domain names through a streamlined, user-friendly experience with transparent pricing and clear renewal terms.
Domora provides comprehensive domain management capabilities, including domain availability searches, registration, renewals, transfers, expiration monitoring, portfolio organization, and bulk operations. Integrated DNS management will support record configuration, nameserver management, DNSSEC integration, configuration validation, and DNS diagnostics through compatible providers. Users will have access to centralized dashboards, automated renewal options, expiration notifications, domain activity histories, and API-driven management tools. Modular registry integrations will allow the platform to connect with supported domain registries and provisioning services, while registration and transfer capabilities will depend on the applicable registry agreements and operational requirements.
At the heart of Domora is an integrated domain marketplace designed to make buying and selling internet names more accessible. Domain owners will be able to list domains for sale, establish asking prices, participate in auctions, negotiate transactions, and transfer domains to buyers through supported workflows. Optional marketplace modules will support escrow-assisted transactions, payment provider integrations, cryptocurrency payment options, seller analytics, and portfolio listings. Privacy and security features will include encrypted storage of sensitive information, multifactor authentication, passkeys, hardware security key support, granular access controls, audit histories, and privacy services where permitted. Domora will prioritize data minimization, transparent policies, and user control while respecting applicable registry requirements and legal obligations.
Designed with a modular architecture, Domora will support optional extensions for reseller services, white-label deployments, managed DNS, advanced automation, organization and team management, portfolio analytics, abuse prevention, and enterprise infrastructure. Its developer-focused capabilities will include documented APIs, webhooks, registry adapters, and integration interfaces that enable contributors to extend the platform without tightly coupling optional services to core functionality. As an open-source project, Domora will encourage community collaboration, independent security reviews, transparent development, self-hosted deployments, and vendor-neutral integrations. By combining domain registration, management, and trading within an extensible ecosystem, Domora aims to give people greater control over their internet identities and create a more open, trustworthy, and accessible market for domain names.
