Open Insights. Better Decisions.
FailureMap is an open-source, AGPL-3.0+ venture intelligence platform designed to analyze startups and emerging companies through a risk-first, evidence-driven framework. Rather than focusing on hype cycles, fundraising announcements, or surface-level growth metrics, it examines the underlying structure of a business to identify where and how it could fail. The system is built to make uncertainty explicit, turning vague assumptions into traceable, explainable analysis.
At its core, FailureMap is modular. Each major domain of analysis—market conditions, founder history, technical architecture, financial signals, governance, and customer sentiment—is handled by a separate engine. These modules can operate independently or together through a central orchestration layer, allowing developers to extend the system with new industry packs, custom risk models, or specialized data connectors. This design makes FailureMap adaptable to different sectors while maintaining a consistent analytical standard.
One of its key differentiators is the Achilles Heel Engine, which isolates the most likely single point of failure in a startup. Instead of producing only generalized scores, it identifies specific vulnerabilities such as dependency risks, unsustainable unit economics, regulatory exposure, or weak competitive moats. Each conclusion is backed by evidence, confidence scoring, and contradictory signals to ensure transparency rather than black-box predictions.
FailureMap also includes a full evidence and explainability layer, ensuring that every insight is traceable back to supporting data. This includes source tracking, confidence breakdowns, and structured reasoning paths. Complementing this is a graph-based intelligence system that maps relationships between founders, companies, investors, and markets, enabling deeper visibility into ecosystem-level risks and patterns.
Together, these features position FailureMap as more than just an analytics tool—it functions as an open intelligence framework for understanding venture durability. It is designed for developers, researchers, analysts, and investors who want to move beyond valuation-driven thinking and instead focus on resilience, structural integrity, and long-term survivability of businesses.
