Specification Status

IntelliFeed is an open-source, modular, user-controlled feed engine specification for building transparent, explainable, configurable, privacy-conscious, and interoperable information distribution systems.

IntelliFeed is designed to provide users, creators, communities, organizations, and platform operators with meaningful control over how content is discovered, ranked, filtered, distributed, and presented.

The specification separates required core capabilities from optional plugin capabilities so implementations can remain modular while supporting different deployment environments and use cases.

Vision

Modern information platforms frequently centralize control over content distribution through opaque recommendation systems. IntelliFeed establishes an alternative model in which feed behavior is configurable, explainable, auditable, portable, and subject to user and community governance.

The system is designed to optimize information distribution according to user-defined priorities rather than treating engagement as the sole or primary objective.

IntelliFeed supports feeds optimized for relevance, discovery, learning, productivity, community participation, creator support, diversity, fairness, privacy, and digital well-being.

Design Principles

  • User-controlled algorithms
  • Transparent recommendations
  • Explainable ranking

  • Ethical AI
  • Privacy-first architecture
  • Data ownership
  • Algorithm portability
  • Platform interoperability
  • Community governance
  • Human oversight
