LocalAI Builder is an open source, modular AI intelligence and procurement system designed to help users discover, compare, evaluate, and assemble the specifications, AI models, datasets, software, and hardware needed to build locally hosted AI. Before making recommendations, the AI asks detailed questions about the user’s goals, budget, technical skill, device capabilities, privacy requirements, licensing needs, and deployment preferences.

LocalAI Builder performs deep searches across multiple search engines, model and dataset repositories, marketplaces, vendors, and other sources to find actual resources and comparable alternatives. It compares prices, perpetual licenses, subscriptions, usage costs, hardware requirements, compatibility, capabilities, installation difficulty, and total cost of ownership. Perpetual licensing is prioritized whenever a suitable option is available.

The system explains licenses in plain language and identifies commercial-use, modification, redistribution, attribution, and other restrictions. It also recommends which specifications, models, and datasets best fit the user’s specific project, providing budget, value, and performance options while clearly explaining why each recommendation was selected.

The ultimate goal of LocalAI Builder is to make locally hosted AI practical for the majority of users, regardless of technical skill. Its modular architecture allows search, price comparison, license analysis, compatibility scoring, recommendation, resource discovery, and deployment capabilities to operate independently and expand through optional modules and plugins.

This specification is licensed under AGPL-3.0+ and is free to use with required Section 7 attribution. Attribution-free deployment is available through a Specification Branding License, with fees based on use and deployment scope.
