Organizing the flow of information.
NarrativeLayer is an open-source system designed to transform RSS feeds into structured, discussion-driven information streams. At its core, it takes traditional RSS content and organizes it into a dual-layer experience: a chronological feed view and a forum-style interface where content becomes interactive threads. Rather than treating each article as a standalone item, NarrativeLayer reframes incoming information as the beginning of a conversation.
The system is driven by a single authoritative source account that dictates the feed. This “pure source” model ensures that all content originates from a defined, consistent origin point, preserving integrity and reducing fragmentation across inputs. From this source, RSS entries are ingested and normalized into a unified data structure where timestamps, content, and relationships remain consistent across all views.
Each entry is enhanced by AI, which generates a single-sentence, neutral description of the content for use in the forum view. This improves readability and standardizes presentation without altering the meaning of the original source. Additionally, NarrativeLayer generates living thread summaries that evolve as comments accumulate, providing a compressed, real-time understanding of ongoing discussions.
Beyond simple aggregation, NarrativeLayer introduces structural intelligence into information flow. It detects duplicate stories across feeds, links related updates into coherent threads, and flags contradictions between sources to preserve informational transparency. A semantic search layer allows users to explore content by meaning rather than keywords, surfacing connected discussions across the system.
To reflect real-world relevance, NarrativeLayer also includes an attention heat layer that tracks engagement velocity, rising discussions, and fading topics. Combined with strict timestamp integrity—where all times are immutable and consistent across RSS and forum views—the system ensures that information is both trustworthy and dynamically structured without losing its original context.
Together, these features position NarrativeLayer as more than a feed reader or forum. It is an information structuring layer that turns passive content streams into evolving narratives shaped by context, connection, and discussion.
