Power Transparency Network

Transparency against energy monopolies.

Power Transparency Network (PTN) is an AGPL 3.0+ open-source intelligence system designed to make the structure of energy production, ownership, and distribution transparent across the United States. It examines how energy is generated at the state level, how it is controlled through utilities and vendors, and who ultimately owns the infrastructure behind those systems. The goal is to turn complex, often opaque energy markets into a structured, readable system of intelligence that can be analyzed, compared, and audited.

At its core, PTN is built around four interconnected layers: state energy composition, vendor and market concentration, ownership sovereignty, and home energy independence. The state layer evaluates energy mix and dependency on fossil fuels versus renewables. The vendor layer maps utilities and energy companies to identify market concentration and potential monopoly structures. The ownership layer traces ultimate beneficial ownership to distinguish domestic control from foreign or mixed ownership. Together, these layers create a full structural map of how energy systems are built and controlled.

The system also extends down to the household level through a home energy intelligence module. This allows users to understand their own energy dependency, utility lock-in exposure, cost volatility, and potential pathways toward greater energy independence through solar, storage, or efficiency changes. By connecting national infrastructure patterns to individual households, PTN makes systemic energy structure personally actionable.

Overall, Power Transparency Network is designed as a transparency and accountability framework for energy systems. It highlights concentration risks, tracks long-term structural trends, and provides a consistent methodology for evaluating energy independence, monopoly exposure, and sovereignty.
