The AI Copilot for Every Rider
RoadCraft is an open-source intelligent riding system designed to bring advanced AI assistance, real-time safety monitoring, and modular vehicle control to motorcycles. It is built around the idea of a helmet-integrated AI copilot that works alongside the rider rather than replacing them. The system continuously processes environmental data from cameras, radar, lidar, and inertial sensors to help riders make safer decisions in real time, while preserving full manual control under normal conditions.
At its core, RoadCraft combines edge-based AI computing with a distributed hardware architecture spanning the helmet and motorcycle. The helmet acts as the primary interface for awareness and alerts, providing heads-up display navigation, audio feedback, and haptic warnings for critical situations such as blind spots or sudden obstacles. The motorcycle itself integrates drive-by-wire systems, allowing controlled AI intervention during emergencies, such as automated braking or stability correction when a crash risk is detected.
Beyond rider assistance, RoadCraft introduces a stabilization and safety layer that enhances vehicle balance and control. This includes IMU-driven stability correction, electronic suspension adjustment, and optional low-speed stabilizer mechanisms to reduce tip-over risk in traffic or stationary conditions. These systems are designed to activate only when necessary, reinforcing safety without diminishing the riding experience.
RoadCraft also incorporates advanced connectivity through vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communication. This enables motorcycles to share hazard data, traffic conditions, and emergency alerts in real time using encrypted mesh networks and 5G communication. Combined with satellite-grade GPS positioning, this creates a cooperative awareness network between riders and smart systems on the road.
As an open-source platform released under the AGPL-3.0+ license, RoadCraft is designed for collaborative innovation across software, AI, and hardware development. Its modular architecture allows contributors to build new AI models, improve sensor fusion systems, design hardware extensions, and expand safety capabilities. The goal is to create a transparent, extensible ecosystem for the next generation of intelligent, safer motorcycle riding systems.
