Turning moral structure into human narrative.
The Interpretation Layer is a modular, human-in-the-loop AI system designed to transform structured moral interpretations of textual passages into modern, grounded human narratives. It operates as a computational bridge between source text and lived experience, where the system does not declare meaning as truth but instead proposes interpretations that are reviewed and selected by a human before any narrative generation occurs. This separation of inference, selection, and generation ensures transparency and prevents the model from acting as an interpretive authority over religious or philosophical material.
At its core, the system ingests structured text sources, segments them into meaningful contextual units, and applies a moral inference engine that generates multiple possible ethical interpretations. Each interpretation is ranked with confidence scoring and explanatory context, allowing the user to understand why different moral readings may exist for the same passage. The human-in-the-loop approval gate is a required step in the pipeline, ensuring that the final moral direction is always explicitly chosen rather than assumed by the system.
Once a moral interpretation is selected, the Interpretation Layer normalizes it into a structured ethical framework, mapping it into universal categories such as empathy, justice, responsibility, or courage. This abstraction step removes doctrinal framing while preserving the underlying ethical structure. The system then uses this normalized moral to generate a modern narrative featuring everyday people in realistic settings such as workplaces, schools, families, or civic environments. These stories are designed to reflect ethical tension and resolution without relying on symbolic, supernatural, or religious framing.
Supporting the core pipeline is a full audit and transparency system that logs every stage of transformation, including AI-generated moral suggestions, human selection decisions, and final narrative outputs. This makes the system fully traceable and suitable for environments that require accountability and explainability. Additional features include a regeneration system for alternative moral or story outputs, an API layer for integration into larger systems, and a modular architecture designed for self-hosted AGPL-3.0+ deployments with optional enterprise licensing under the Specification Branding License model.
