TruthInBilling is an open-source public transparency platform built to help people document and understand billing discrepancies across industries. Many consumers experience charges that do not align with advertised rates, contracts, or expected fees, yet those incidents often remain isolated and difficult to prove. TruthInBilling transforms those individual experiences into a structured and verifiable public record, allowing patterns of overbilling, hidden fees, and recurring inconsistencies to become visible over time.

A central feature of the platform is its privacy-preserving verification model. Users can submit bills, invoices, and related documentation through a secure process designed to confirm authenticity while protecting identity. Personal information can be redacted before upload, submitted records are encrypted, and public-facing data focuses on patterns rather than private details. TruthInBilling also emphasizes structured analysis. This specification is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0+) and may be used freely with required attribution under Section 7. A Specification Branding License is available for attribution-free deployments, with fees based on usage, scope, and deployment size.
