Make Room for Wings.
Wingstead is a modular software specification for learning, understanding, raising, and designing for birds across gardens, farms, and homesteads. It brings together comprehensive avian knowledge, species and breed information, egg production, nesting, nutrition, behavior, housing, health, welfare, breeding, flock management, and the practical roles birds can serve within a productive living environment. Wingstead is designed to help users understand not only what birds need to thrive, but also how different species can contribute to food production, pest management, soil and compost systems, garden maintenance, and broader homestead functions.
Wingstead includes an intelligent space and habitat planning system that translates bird requirements into practical physical designs. Users can provide available dimensions, flock size, species, breed, climate considerations, intended uses, materials, budget, garden relationships, and other constraints, allowing the system to calculate appropriate housing, nesting, roosting, feeding, watering, run, pen, and access requirements. Rather than relying solely on generic plans, Wingstead can adapt designs to the specific conditions and goals provided by the user while distinguishing between minimum, recommended, and enhanced space requirements.
The AI design system extends these calculations into architectural planning and construction documentation. Given a defined space and a set of requirements, Wingstead can generate dimensioned site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, enclosure layouts, ventilation plans, predator-protection systems, construction details, material lists, cut lists, and step-by-step building instructions. Users can iteratively modify designs through natural language, change dimensions or flock requirements, add or remove features, compare alternatives, and have the system recalculate affected measurements and requirements while identifying conflicts, missing information, or areas requiring professional review.
Wingstead ultimately connects bird knowledge with the physical and ecological systems surrounding the flock. It can help users design coops, houses, runs, pens, rotational areas, and integrated garden spaces while considering bird welfare, maintenance, sanitation, weather, predators, accessibility, and long-term expansion. By combining avian education, husbandry intelligence, spatial calculations, AI-assisted architectural design, construction planning, and garden integration within a modular framework, Wingstead provides a foundation for creating healthier bird habitats and more functional homesteads. Wingstead makes room for wings by turning knowledge about birds into practical places for them to live, thrive, and contribute.
