Aureon is an open, modular wearable platform designed to transform health monitoring into a personalized form of technology and jewelry. Built around an interchangeable pendant and adjustable choker architecture, Aureon allows users to configure sensors, electronics, power systems, communications, software, and physical designs according to their needs. Its open hardware and open software approach supports local-first operation, user-owned data, repairability, upgrades, and long-term extensibility, allowing the wearable to evolve instead of becoming obsolete.

Aureon can support a broad range of health, wellness, environmental, and activity measurements. Depending on the installed modules, the platform can monitor heart rate, HRV, ECG, blood oxygen, respiration, temperature, movement, sleep, recovery, stress indicators, environmental conditions, and other emerging measurements. A sensor abstraction and fusion architecture allows different sensors to work together while maintaining raw measurements, calibration information, signal quality, confidence values, and algorithm provenance. Wearable Modes allow the user to configure different behaviors for everyday use, sleep, exercise, recovery, research, privacy, emergency situations, high-accuracy monitoring, battery saving, and other activities.

The wearable is also designed as an interactive personal device rather than simply a collection of sensors. Lighting, haptic feedback, touch controls, physical controls, and gesture recognition can provide discreet notifications, status information, mode switching, and user-defined interactions. The Emergency and Personal Safety Module can support emergency activation, fall and impact detection, safety timers, check-ins, location sharing, emergency communications, and configurable escalation workflows. The Personal Automation Engine allows users to create rules connecting health measurements, activity, location, environmental conditions, battery state, wearable modes, and external devices, with automation capable of running locally for greater privacy and control.

Aureon extends beyond the electronics into an open artistic and ownership ecosystem. The Artistic Marketplace can allow artists, jewelry designers, makers, and users to create and share interchangeable pendants, chokers, shells, decorative components, CAD designs, and limited-edition pieces while maintaining compatibility with the underlying technology. The Lifecycle Module tracks repairs, upgrades, replacements, calibration, ownership transfers, reuse, refurbishment, recycling, and end-of-life events, while Provenance and Authenticity records can preserve information about components, materials, designers, manufacturers, revisions, modifications, and certifications.
