The Physics-Informed Dynamics Engine Specification defines an open, modular framework for building intelligent dynamics systems that combine analytical physics models with machine learning techniques. The specification adopts a hybrid approach in which classical equations of motion remain the foundation for prediction and control, while machine learning components estimate residual behaviors that are difficult to model explicitly, such as changing friction conditions, actuator delays, component wear, and environmental disturbances. By integrating first-principles physics with adaptive learning methods, the specification enables more accurate, robust, and explainable modeling of complex dynamic systems.
The specification also establishes requirements for constraint-aware motion prediction and simulation-consistent control generation. All predictions and control outputs must remain physically plausible, satisfy operational constraints, and maintain consistency between simulated and real-world behavior. The framework provides complete implementation guidance for state estimation, residual learning, uncertainty quantification, adaptation mechanisms, validation procedures, explainability interfaces, and audit capabilities. Released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0+), the specification promotes transparency, interoperability, and community-driven development for autonomous vehicles, robotics, digital twins, and other adaptive cyber-physical systems.
