Cryptography Specifications

The Cryptography specifications explore cryptographic technologies as foundational components for privacy, security, authentication, data integrity, and trusted digital systems. They address end-to-end encryption, client-side encryption, cryptographic hashing, digital signatures, key exchange, device-bound identities, zero-knowledge proofs, secure enclaves, multi-signature mechanisms, encrypted storage, and cryptographic verification. Together, they establish architectures in which sensitive information can remain protected while users retain greater control over their data, credentials, identities, and digital assets.

The specifications also examine the evolution of cryptographic security toward post-quantum and quantum-resistant systems. Their designs incorporate forward secrecy, key rotation, hybrid encryption, cryptographic identity, secure synchronization, tamper detection, content-addressed verification, and privacy-preserving authentication. The overall focus is on building resilient, verifiable, and privacy-preserving systems that can protect information against both current and emerging threats while supporting decentralized, local-first, zero-trust, and user-controlled architectures.

All specifications are released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0+) and may be used free of charge with the required attribution under Section 7 of the license. Organizations that require attribution-free commercial deployment may obtain a Specification Branding License (SBL). Licensing fees are determined based on the specific specification, deployment scope, and the scale of the network or environment in which it is deployed.

The Open Arsenal specifications are designed as foundations, not disposable products. They define reusable architectures that can be implemented, extended, combined, modified, and adapted to changing technologies and real-world requirements. Modular design allows individual capabilities to evolve without forcing an entire system to be replaced, while vendor-neutral architecture helps preserve independence and interoperability.

Long-term infrastructure requires long-term thinking. Open-source licensing encourages examination, reuse, modification, and collaboration, while perpetual commercial licensing can provide organizations with lasting rights to deploy a specification without making foundational infrastructure dependent on recurring licensing renewals. The objective is to create technological foundations that can remain useful as companies, technologies, platforms, and business models change.
